Home of the Pallivasal Hydel Power Project, this hill town is also famous for its picturesque tea plantations. Pallivasal, located at about 3 km from Chithirapuram in Munnar is the venue of the first Hydro-electric project in Kerala. It is a place of immense scenic beauty and is often favoured by visitors as a picnic spot.
A short trip from Munnar town would take you to Pallivasal, a small hilly village. There are several scenic spots on the slopes of Pallivasal. The hills here are ideal for short treks. The population of the village is just over 11,000 (2001 census). Pallivasal is also home to the first hydro-electric project in the State. The 37.50-MW power station is situated in a scenic landscape which travellers can visit with the permission of station authorities. Pallivasal is about 8 km away from Munnar town.
Kallar got the name due to the presence Kallar water fall. This really a beautiful place . Kallar is situating 10km away from Munnar town. There is small coffee shop on the side of road and fall, we will get good tea from there. There is place to sit and relax except the bench in tea shop. This is not a crowded place but not a peaceful place as well. We can see it from the road itself. If youre going to Munnar it will be on your left side. Entry to the fall is prohibited
Kalladanthy Natural Cave Park is a hidden treasure barely 18km from downtown Munnar and 6km from Anachal. Kalladanthy is a unique underground cave network. It is the largest of its kind in Central Kerala. Legend has it that a thief called “Malayil Kallan” lived in this cave for a long time. It is said that he used to help the poor by looting the rich. Be it summer or winter, the cool temperature inside the cave does not change much. Sounds of birds and the flowing streams take us to another world. The waterfall inside the cave would definitely surprise a visitor. Yoga practitioners spent hours in the vicinity of the caves meditating.
